Goal

This document provides assistance to install a new license in a Sun Storage 2500, 2500-M2 or 6000 Array, by using Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM).

If you need to re-generate an existing license, please refer to <Document 1559689.1> Sun Storage 2500, 2500-M2, 6000 and Flexline Arrays: How to Re-enable Premium Features if They Become Disabled.

Solution

You will first need the following information:

"Feature Activation Code" which is available in the license certificate you received.
Chassis Serial Number.
Feature Enable Identifier (FEI).

Where to find the Chassis Serial Number and Feature Enable Identifier(FEI)

Via CAM Browser User Interface (BUI):

Select Storage Array > Administration > Click on Licensing. FEI and chassis serial number are displayed under "Licensable Feature Summary on Storage System"(right window pane).
Via CAM Command Line (CLI):

# sscs list -a <arrayname> license

Where "sscs" is located under:

Solaris: /opt/SUNWstkcam/bin/
Linux: /opt/sun/cam/bin/
Windows: C:\Program Files\Sun\Common Array Manager\bin

When you have the above information, you can follow the steps below.

Please go to the "Sun Storage 2500/6000 Premium Features" page in order to activate the license.
Follow the instructions in the chapter "Adding a License" of the document "Sun Storage Common Array Manager - Array Administration Guide" for your version of CAM in Disk Device Software Documentation.
