Oracle Database Appliance Software - Version 2.1.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

There are some situations when infrastructure is not upgrade or at latest version of the patch bundle, in this situation  "Supported Version" for some component does not show "Up-to-date" .

This situation might occure in following 3 cases.

 CASE 1 :

oakcli update -patch <patch_bundle_version> --infra fails during the upgrade.

e.g.

Syntax for version 2.4.0.0

./oakcli update -patch 2.4.0.0.0 --infra

 CASE 2 :

Hardware change for which latest Firmware is not applied.

e.g. In this example disk c2d20 is replaced and Firmware in not up-to-date.

 oakcli show version -detail
Reading the metadata. It takes a while...
System Version         Component Name            Installed Version         Supported Version

                                   Controller                11.05.02.00                Up-to-date
                                   Expander                  0342                         Up-to-date
               SSD_SHARED {

                                 HDD_SHARED                A6C0                       Up-to-date
                                    ILOM                   .0.16.22.a r75629          Up-to-date
                                    BIOS                      12010310                  Up-to-date
                                    IPMI                      1.8.10.5                     Up-to-date
                                    HMP                       2.2.4                         Up-to-date
                                    OAK                       2.4.0.0.0                    Up-to-date
                                    OEL                       5.8                             Up-to-date
                                    TFA                        2.4                            Up-to-date

CASE 3 :

This situation can occure for the GI_Home  and DB_Home  as well if update  command is not run or it is failed.

Solution

CASE 1 :

In these type of mismatch  of supported version we have to update  infra again.

For Infrastructure related mismatch we have to run

oakcli update -patch <patch_bundle_version> --infra

Case 2:

If there is any replacement of hardware e.g. New disk Firmware is not up-to-date.

In this case  we  have to run update infra command again.

For Infrastructure related mismatch we have to run

oakcli update -patch <patch_bundle_version> --infra

In some cases, when replaced hardware is  from different vendor , the latest Firmware version will be different. In such cases supported version may not be Up-to-date but installed version and supported version will be same.

If after a successful infra update Firmware is showing different supported version from already installed hardware's Firmware, check further with Oracle Support team.

Upload the ODASUNDIAG in SR (Service Request) for verification.

Oracle Database Appliance Diagnostic Information required for Disk Failures (Doc ID 1390058.1)

Contact Hardware team to further verify the latest Firmware for the part which  is replaced.

Case 3:

For GI_ Home, you need to run  following command again.

oakcli update -patch <patch_bundle_version> --GI

For DB_Home, you need to run  following command again.

 oakcli update -patch <patch_bundle_version> --DB
