Goal

What is causing "Cartridge unexpectedly discovered" message?

Can it be influenced by the Software, e.g. ACSLS,HSC,...?

Solution

"Cartridge unexpectedly discovered" message may be produced during a CAP audit upon closing the CAP. is a generic WARNING Event - Produce SNMP (level 2) trap.

It is a common way of reporting discovered cartridges for SL8500 and SL3000 firmware regardless of the CAP mode(automatic or manual) and as such is not an error.   The Software which manages the robot (ACSLS, HSC,NetBackup...) can not influence the way the firmware reports the discovered cartridges because it is coded in the firmware.

Further investigation is required if this message is produced during an operation not associated with a CAP enter activity e.g. during drive dismount activity
