GoalVOP (Virtual Op Panel) and Access to the Data Path. Solution"VOP uses the network interface to communicate to the tape drive. The ethernet port on the tape drive does not have any access to the actual customer data on the tape (saved by the backup applications through the data path). The ethernet port does not have any access to the drive data path connection. The Ethernet port is designed as a service port only with the purpose of obtaining telemetry data specific to the tape drive hardware and for configuring the tape drive settings." Page 43 of the "StorageTek Virtual Operator Panel User's Guide" contains the statement, "The VOP does not interact with the host input/output interface."
