Goal

How to reset ILOM (3.x and later) root account password using serial management port on a Sun Blade 6000 CMM (Chassis Management Module)

Solution

1) Connect via a serial console to the CMM module and open terminal window


2) Press <Enter> and when asked for login username type: default


3) Press locator button on CMM module


4) When asked for password type: defaultpassword


5) Reset root password with the following command:

 

  -> set /CMM/users/root password
  Enter new password again: ********
  New password was successfully set for user /CMM/users/root
