Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Configure SNMP on SL Console uses an graphic interface to do the necessary steps to set everything up. Basically you need to:

- Add Users.
- Add Trap Recipients.
- Enable the port.

Solution

 Step 1:

Adding a user: Select the Add Users tab on the SLC screen

In SLC main screen, choose the SNMP tab at the right side of the SLC screen.
Select the Version you prefer from the combo menu.
Click on the button Apply at the top right corner of the SLC screen.
 When you are done, you should be able to see the new user listed on the screen, under the Users List.

 Step 2:

 Adding a Trap Recipient. Note: you need the IP address of the monitoring server to be able to add a Trap Recipient.

- Choose the Add Trap Recipients Tab.
- Input the IP address of the monitoring server in the host field.
- Add the trap level for your Trap Recipient. Values needs to be separated by commas. Example: For errors and warnings use the values: 1,2. If you want to get all the messages on this trap recipient, write a * on this field.

 Step 3:

Enable the port: If you are setting up the SNMP feature for the very first time (either SLC or SSH) you need to enable the port in order to full enable this feature.

- Choose the Port Control tab.
- Click on the Port field and choose any of the available ports listed there (recommended 1B).
- Click on the Command field and choose the Enable option.
- Click on the Apply button at the top right corner of the SLC screen.
- You should be able to see the chosen port enable on the Port Control list at the button of this screen.
