GoalThe IBM LTO Ultrium tape drive has an SCD that displays a code which can aid in servicing the drive. The error codes appear on the single-character display (SCD) of the tape drive. Description of error code message displayed on the front operator panel. SolutionBellow is a picture of an IBM LTO drive and the position of the SCD code:
Note: The rear panel of Ultrium 5 and later tape drives has a power beacon LED that indicates the drive is powered on when green. Occasionally this LED can be blue, which does not indicate an error.
Note: "e" means Encryption Error. Displayed when the drive detects an error associated with a encryption operation. (Added 20-Jun-2013) Refer to the following KB for further information.
