Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This document outlines the procedure for identifying the installed Sun Ray Operating Software (firmware) that has been installed on the Sun Ray Client device (historically called a DTU, or Desktop Terminal Unit.)

Solution

From the Sun Ray Client

A user with direct access to a running Sun Ray Client can determine the installed version of Sun Ray Operating Software using the appropriate Sun Ray Client Hot Keys, as below:

Using a Sun Keyboard :  Simply use the multi-key combination [ Stop + V ]

Using a Standard Keyboard : Use the multi-key combination: [ CTRL + Pause + V ]

From the Sun Ray Server

A Sun Ray Administrator can determine the Sun Ray Operating Software of a remote Sun Ray Client by running the 'utquery' command, as below:

  1. Determine the IP address of the Sun Ray Client you'd like to query.

    Note: This IP address may be provided by the user sitting at the client (using the [Stop+N] keyboard combination, or collected from the session information in the Sun Ray Web Administration Console.

  2. Run the 'utquery' command by given the Sun Ray Client IP address with '-d' option.
    $/opt/SUNWut/sbin/utquery -d <IP address of Client>

    This is demonstrated in example:
    # /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utquery -d xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    terminalID=0021286exxxx
            terminalIPA=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
            model=SunRayP9
            currentAuth=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
            currentFW=11.0_49_2012.03.27.10.35 <-------- Firmware Version
            currentBarrier=440
            currentBarrierLevel=440
            currentMTU=1366
            currentLease=21021
            Subnet=255.255.255.0
            Router=192.168.0.1
            MTU=1366
            LeaseTim=21600
    ...
