 DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
   WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED: Familiar with oakcli commands on an ODA
   TIME ESTIMATE: 120 Mins
   TASK COMPLEXITY: 4

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
   PROBLEM OVERVIEW:  System Controller Assembly needs to be replaced because of a failed component integrated on the board
   WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:  There are 2 SC's in the chassis, only the SC that is being replaced needs to be powered down.  The other SC can remain online.
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE: Customer will need to shutdown the OS on this SC, and power off the board via ILOM.

   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

1. Complete the pre-install steps to backup ILOM and gather serial numbers.

For Backup/Restore, refer to the Oracle ILOM 3.0 Maintenance and Diagnostics Guide

Backing Up Configurations pg. 20
Restoring Configurations pg. 28

2. Physically replace the System Controller Assembly per the procedure documented in the ODA service manual

3. Login into ILOM of new System Controller and confirm serial# is correct.  "show /SYS" should show the same serial number of the other node.

If not, use procedure to enter service mode to copy the fruid information from one of the backup copies.  For example:

# copypsnc backup1 primary

Refer to Doc ID 1280913.1 - How to update product serial number on systems which implement Top Level Identifier functionality

4. If the ilom firmware/bios on the new System Controller is lower than the firmware on the other System Controller, run the following command to update it, make sure to substitute the correct version on the SC.  The example below is for 12.1.2.9.0:

If the firmware is not Up-to-date, run the following command:

For 12.1.2.6.0 and below:

# oakcli update --patch <version> --infra

For 12.1.2.7.0 and above:

# oakcli update --patch <version> --storage

Note * be aware that these commands will reboot the node

Note * if the firmware is at a higher revision than the Installed Version, there is no need to run the infra update as shown above. It is OK to run mismatched versions, and an infra update will NOT downgrade any firmware components

To check the version, run "oakcli show version -detail"

Alternatively, you can use the ILOM web browser to update the firmware.  The .pkg firmware image file can be obtained from the other node in directory:

/opt/oracle/oak/pkgrepos/thirdpartypkgs/Firmware/Ilom/SUN/541-4116-03/3.0.16.22.a-es-r75629/Base/ILOM-3_0_16_22_a_r75629-Sun_Fire_X4370_M2-rom.pkg

* the directory names will diff with each version

5. If system is running 12.1.2.2.0 or above, use the "oakcli configure network -changeNetCard" command to configure the new mac addresses for the 4 onboard ports, and go to step 7.  If system is running below 12.1.2.2.0, the edits must be done manually, go to step 5A.

5A)Edit the following files in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory to change the MAC address to the new MAC address.

ifcfg-eth0  <<< NET2
ifcfg-eth1  <<< NET3
ifcfg-eth2  <<< NET0
ifcfg-eth3  <<< NET1

In order to find out what the new mac address is, you can use the ilom commands:

-> show /SYS/MB/NET3

-> show /SYS/MB/NET2

-> show /SYS/MB/NET1

-> show /SYS/MB/NET0

6. Run the 'service network restart' command as root user.

Note* If 'service network restart' does not change the mac addresses to reflect the new motherboard, a reboot of the node may be needed.

7. If core key count was configured, run the 'oakcli apply core_config_key' command.

PARTS NOTE: FRU for this part is 541-4119 and 7026397, it contains the motherboard and all integrated components.
