Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Enter tapes onto a specific rail on a SL8500/SL3000.

Fix

There is no other process other than manual commands to enter cartridges and place them in a specific location.  Since the enter process is under host control (in this case ACSLS or HSC), they have to specify the location.
Tape cartridges can be manually entered into the library, however, you will have to do a full physical audit followed by a host-level audit to re-sync everything. Not a recommended action in an operational library.
