Goal
How do we reserve cells for cleaning/diagnostic tapes in SL500
Solution
1. Ensure the SL500 library is not being used. Stop all backup job and offline the library.
2. Remove any data cartridges from the top 2 cells of column 1 and replace with cleaning cartridges.
The following example shows slots in use which need to be removed:
Location : 0,1,1,1
Location Type : cell
Media Type : LtoGen5_1500GB
Type : data
Cartridge : HB2055L5
Location : 0,1,1,2
Location Type : cell
Media Type : LtoGen5_1500GB
Type : data
Cartridge : HM2030L5
3. Connect to CLI port of library or ssh to the SL500
# ssh service@<ipaddress>
sr1-csin05-02:/lab 244 % ssh service@10.186.82.119
Password:
SERVICE>> reserved print
Library Settings:
Reserved Cell Count: 0
4. Change the reserved cell from 0 to 2
SERVICE>> reserved 2
SERVICE>> reserved print
Library Settings:
Reserved Cell Count: 2
5. Setting reserved cells will cause a renumbering of the library cells so reboot of SL500 and re-inventory from backup host is required.
6. Import the clean cartridge from the CAP using the SLConsole "Import Cleaning/Diagnostic cartridges".
Note : If the library is partitioned, the reserved command will fail.
SERVICE>> reserved 2
