Big Data Appliance Hardware - Version All Versions and later
Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 2.0.1 to 2.0.1 [Release 2.0]
Linux x86-64

Goal

If errors/warnings like those below are reported after a BDA V1.0.3 with Image V2.0.1 being freshly installed on the rack with reimagerack show:

WARNING: Insufficient disk controller firmware minor version : 0048
INFO: Minimum disk controller firmware minor version : 0079

How can the HBA firmware warnings during a V2.0.1 reimage be resolved?

Solution

This indicates that a disk controller firmware update is required.

To update the disk controller firmware version:

1. Issue (as root) setup-root-ssh from node1.

# setup-root-ssh

2. Issue (as root) using the dcli command which will run the command on all the servers.

# dcli bdaupdatefw -l

3.  Reboot all the servers as user root from node01. This step is very important. If not done then reimage rack will not work properly, since it will use the wrong device name for the internal usb. Make sure all servers have rebooted before proceeding.

# dcli reboot

4. Once all servers are rebooted and back up as user root from node01, invoke "reimagerack" again to setup the ISO base image on the BDA.

# ./reimagerack
