--The VSM6 can be online to the customer and does not require to be in any sort of maintenance state. --Obtain customer approval before performing any maintenance action on VSM6.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?: Connect to the correct node that requires maintenance.
* * * * * * * * IMPORTANT NOTE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * VSM7 8TB drive PN 7301588 is no longer being produced. It is unknown how long the exising spares pool will be able to supply these drives for current replacement requirements. For all VSM6 and VSM7 running app code 7.0.0.12.000 and lower a new drive replacement script should be used.
The attachment
Note: The service manual may indicate logging into the server as root. That is not necessary. Instead run the command using the "sudo" prefix. sudo /opt/vsm/bin/replace_stpool_drive OR cd /opt/vsm/bin sudo ./replace_stpool_drive
CAUTION: Make sure you remove the correct (failed) drive. Drive release latch and drive LEDs are on opposite sides of the failed drive. See this diagram for further clarification on this caution as it pertains to the DE2-24C JBODs. OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE FE/CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
