Goal

Firmware Prerequisite for SL500 Robot Part Number.

Solution

The new SL500 robots will contain the new EV15 scanner. The repaired robots will have the old E1022 scanner or the EV15 scanner depending on the P/N.

The problem with the new EV15 scanner will show up when the Rev. 4 Robot is installed in a older library running 1232 firmware and lower. The Library intermittently fails to correctly read drive targets, notably the Top Slot of the DEMs.

This problem is causing the Rev. 4 robots to be incorrectly diagnosed as faulty when they simply require the correct level of firmware.
This change can be identified as:
● 419946801 / 7058715 / 7300854 Rev4 (hardware label on robot) has the new EV15 Scanner.
● 419684602 Rev3 (hardware label on robot) has the original E1022 Scanner but the latest P/N 7300850 which replaces that older P/N will have the EV15 scanner.

The Rev. 3 Robot at 419684602 / 7300850 is RoHS 2006 compliant and will run at all code levels including the latest 1300 firmware.
The Rev. 4 Robot 419946801 / 7058715 / 7300854 is RoHS 2013 compliant and must use 1300 Firmware or the factory installed 1235 code <1235 MFG code only> should be used, DO NOT down-level to 1232 or lower code levels !!

Note: The RoHS 2013 robots should only be used as a replacement on a library that was originally shipped as RoHS 2013 compliant.

All new SL500s coming out of Guadalajara and Budapest manufacturing will come with a robot equipped with an EV15 scanner p/n -419946801/ 7058715 / 7300854 Rev. 4 and will be running <1235 MFG code only> or 1300 firmware.
As will spare RLC cards. Older units with Rev. 3 Robots with E1022 scanner will still work with the new <1235 MFG code only> and 1300 level micro-codes.

Warning:
1. If up-leveling from 1232 . 1300 is the 1st code to support SILKS, and the ADVSRV password has been changed. Contract Level 2 support to apply for New Advance Service password, your request will be reviewed for qualification?
2. There are a total of 29 changes (bug fixes and enhancements) in 1300 firmware, the above 2 will have the most impact. The 1300 code will configure whatever setting that have been set in 1232 or lower code into 1300 in regards to partitioning and cartridge capacity.
Any upgrade after 1300 code that will require a SILKS license to upgrade.
Please read the 1300 release notes BEFORE installing 1300 code.
