Created from <SR 3-6831993981> Applies to:Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2 Qtr Rack - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Information in this document applies to any platform. GoalWhat is the correct setting for the parameter UTC in the file /etc/sysconfig/clock on an Exalogic compute-node? Is the value 'false' the correct one for a default installation? FixThe value 'false' or 'true' for the parameter UTC depends on the BIOS clock settings. If the BIOS clock is set to the local time then the parameter UTC has to be set to 'false'. Otherwise it has to be set to the value 'true'. Setting it to UTC or not is important to get a correct system clock after booting the OS. Since during the OS boot phase the hardware time is fetched from the BIOS, and according to the time zone settings '/etc/timezone' the system time is set. In the case where the hardware clock is set to local-time and the parameter UTC is set to 'true', this leads to an incorrect system clock setting after the OS has booted. Exalogic Systems are configured by default with the local-time. Thus, the right value for the parameter UTC is 'false'. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
