2. Verify that it is safe to disconnect the faulty power cord:

  • All six external breakers for the server must be in the Off position.
  • All six power cords for this server must be unplugged from their respective AC outlets.
  • No LEDs on the server should be lighted.
  • You should not hear any fans running in the server.

3. Use a grounding strap to protect the equipment from ESD damage.

  • Remove the Fan modules from the Upper Fan Cage Assembly by pressing the Green button to release the module and place them on a grounded mat.
  • Loosen the 4 captive screws on the corners of the Fan Cage Assembly.
  • Pull the Assembly until about 1 inch/25mm until it is free of the guide pin inside the slot.
  • Pull the Assembly up about 15 degrees to clear the top of the scalability card cage.

5. Unpack the replacement Fan cage Assembly and insert it into the slot:

  • Insert the Fan Cage Assembly down at about 15 degrees to clear the scalability card cage.
  • Push the assembly on to the 1 inch/25mm guide pin inside the slot.
  • Tighten the 4 captive screws around the four corners.
  • Insert the Fan modules into the Assembly.

6. Verify all six external breakers are still in the Off position.
