DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:
Engineer has to complete the M10-1/M12-1 system training
TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
Inactive/cold maintenance
Maintenance work is performed while the physical partition to which the maintenance-target FRU belongs is powered off and the input power of the cabinet on which the target FRU is mounted is off (power cord is disconnected)

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

1. The customer should conduct an orderly shutdown of system software.
2. Power off all physical partitions to stop the entire system before physically removing components
3. Check that the POWER LEDs on all cabinets composing the system is off.
4. Pull out the cabinet from the rack.
5. Remove all power cords from the PSU backplane unit of the maintenance-target cabinet.
6. Open the fan cover.
7.  Remove the upper cover.
8.  Remove the air duct and the PSU backplane cover.
9. Replace the DIMM
10. Reinstall removed air duct cover, PSU backplane cover, and upper cover.  Close fan cover.
11. Connect all power cords to the PSU backplane unit of the maintenance-target cabinet and put cabinet back in rack.
12. Confirm that there is no problem with the memory after the maintenance
     XSCF> showstatus
     XSCF> showhardconf -M
13. Start the system.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO
RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check for all the domains are up and running fine

PARTS NOTE:

Maintain the memory in accordance with the following rules:
■ Install memory in units of four or eight pieces.
■ Install memory for the group A first.
■ Each installation unit must consist of memory of the same capacity and rank.
■ Use either R-DIMM (Registered DIMM) memory or LR-DIMM (Load Reduced DIMM) memory for the entire system.
■ For redundant configuration, install eight or 16 pieces of memory.
