Goal

Describe the procedure to achieve the rebuilding of the path_to_inst file so that both heads of a cluster enumerate the ibp devices identically

In this case I am choosing head2 to reconfigure the path_to_inst  as the path_to_inst on Head1 is shown in the correct order:

Head1 path_to_inst:

"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@1,0,ipib" 0 "ibp"
"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@2,0,ipib" 1 "ibp"
"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340e@7/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@1,0,ipib" 2 "ibp"
"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340e@7/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@2,0,ipib" 3 "ibp"
"/pci@1,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@1,0,ipib" 4 "ibp"
"/pci@1,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@2,0,ipib" 5 "ibp"

Compared with head2:

Head2 path_to_inst:

"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@1,0,ipib" 2 "ibp"
"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@2,0,ipib" 3 "ibp"
"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340e@7/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@1,0,ipib" 4 "ibp"
"/pci@0,0/pci8086,340e@7/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@2,0,ipib" 5 "ibp"
"/pci@1,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@1,0,ipib" 0 "ibp"
"/pci@1,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15b3,673c@0/ibport@2,0,ipib" 1 "ibp

Solution

Please use the resolution procedure given in the following document:

1560329.1 - Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System: Device Enumeration Mismatch when inserting Additional Network Cards in a Cluster

Note:  Partners will need to open an Service Request if they cannot access KM 1560329.1 for Oracle TSC Support to assist.

CAUTION :

If there is more than one IB fabric, running the solution may cause the IB network configuration to become incorrect.
If more that one fabric is involved, it is recommended to create a collaboration with the IB team to help map out all the IB ports before and after the re-enumeration is done.
You will then have the proper data to reconfigure your IB network configuration.
