Oracle Confidential INTERNAL - Do not distribute to customer (OracleConfidential). Applies to:Fujitsu M10-4S - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Information in this document applies to any platform. Goal CAP PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to replace a Crossbar cable pair connected between a BB and a BB SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) Field training in M10-4S servers TASK COMPLEXITY: 4 Time Estimate: 60 minutes FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: For a 3 or 4 BB configuration the easiest maintenance to perform is the Inactive/hot Maintenance where the Slave BB is Inactive and the Hot BB is the Standby. For a 2 BB configuration, System-stopped maintenance must be performed. For the other types of maintenance for a Crossbar cable pair see the M10 Service Manual
Inactive/hot Maintenance 1. If there are any physical partitions (PPARs) in operation using the Slave BB, they need to be powered off. Verify the physical partitions (PPARs) status with. XSCF> showpcl -a -v 2. Execute the XSCF> replacefru BB#nn command to release the target BB from the system. This is the slave 3. If the target BB that the Slave is connected to is the Master XSCF then switch the Master role to Standby. XSCF> switchscf -t Standby
System-stopped Maintenance 1. If there are any physical partitions (PPARs) in operation they need to be powered off. Verify that all physical partitions (PPARs) are powered off with. XSCF> showpcl -a -v 2. Remove the power cords from the Power Supply units of both BBs Note - To completely shut down the system, all the power cords must be disconnected. There is a risk of electrical failure if the power cords are not disconnected.
Removing the Crossbar cable pair Note Cables must be replaced in pairs Note - Before disconnecting the Crossbar cable pair be sure to take notes on the connection positions in order to reconnect the cables correctly. 1. Disconnect the Crossbar cable pair from one of the BBs. Pull the tab on the cable to release it. 2. Disconnect the Crossbar cable pair from the other BB. Pull the tab on the cable to release it. Installing the Crossbar cable pair 1. Reinstall the Crossbar cable pair between the two BBs. This works best by connecting one cable at a time. Make sure the cables, click when you connect them. 2. Reinstall the Crossbar cable pair to the other BB. Note - Verify the cable connections with a XSCF> showlogs -V error after the BBs are back in service For Inactive/hot Maintenance a. Switch the Standby back to Master XSCF> switchscf -t Active b. Return the BB to service with XSCF> replacefru command.
For System-stopped Maintenance a. A Reconnect all power cords to the power supply units to power on both BBs. Note - In a dual power feed, be sure to connect the power cord to the original position correctly according to the notes written down before maintenance.
4. Power on the target physical partition(s). This will depend on whether you powered down all the PPARs or just the target PPAR. a. Move the mode switches to locked on both the master and the standby cabinet. b. Review the "showlogs -V error" output to confirm there are no cable errors.
