DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Engineer should be M10-4S trained

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN PRIOR TO PERFORMING THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
This activity can only be performed as a cold replacement.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Login to the active XSCF
-
In building block config, ID the target server and release it from the system via the replacefru command.
In a standalone config, poweroff the system.

Remove all power cords from the server
Getting to the PSU backplane
For additional details about any of the steps below, please see the M10-4S service manual.

Lower the cable support
-
Remove all pci cables. In building block config, also remove cross bar cables and XSCF connection cables

Remove all PCI cassettes and for empty slots remove the fillers
-
Remove the crossbar units
-
Loosen the 3 screws on the crossbar units to remove the crossbar frame
-
Loosen the screw on the CPU memory unit and move the left and right levers to the horizontal position
-
Slide the CPU memory unit out about 4 inches
-
Remove the front cover
-
Remove all the power supplies
-
Remove all the fans
-
Remove all the internal disks
-
Loosen the 2 screws in the fan slot and remove the fan shelf
Removing the PSU backplane
-
Loosen the 2 screws on the PSU backplane
-
Pull out the PSU backplane by its handle
-
Remove the operation panel from the PSU backplane
Installation of the PSU backplane
-
Install the operation panel on the new PSU backplane
-
Insert the PSU backplane by its handle
-
Tighten the 2 screws on the PSU backplane
Re-install the remaining components
-
Install the fan shelf and tighten the 2 screws
-
Install the internal disks
-
Install the fans
-
Install the power supplies
-
Install the front cover
-
Slide the CPU memory unit back into the chassis, move the levers to the secure position and tighten the screw
-
Install the crossbar frame and tighten the 3 screw
-
Install the crossbar units
-
Install all the PCI cards and fillers
-
Connect all the PCI cables. In building block config, also reconnect the crossbar cables and the XSCF connection cables
-
Raise the cable support
Finishing
-
Reconnect all the power cables to the server
-
Login to the XSCF
-
In building block config, use replacefru to incorporate the server into the system
-
Poweron the partitions to verify everything is working
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:
