FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Power Supply unit in a PCI Expansion Unit has Failed

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

A data backup is not a pre-requisite

Before replacing the FRU make sure the Customer has done the Preliminary steps before FRU replacement in a PCI Expansion Unit: Doc Id. 1528544.1     


WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Note for Active/hot maintenance Execute ioxadm command to stop the Power Supply unit under maintenance. In the following example, the PSU#0 of PCIBOX#12B4 is specified.

             XSCF> ioxadm -f poweroff PCIBOX#12B4/PSU#0

1.  Push the lever of the power supply unit under maintenance to release the lock and pull out the PS. PSU#0 is the bottom PS and PSU#1 is the top PS
2.  Firmly push the power supply unit into the mounting location.

For Active/hot maintenance the Power Supply unit under maintenance must be powered on. In the following example, the PSU#0 of PCIBOX#12B4 is specified.

             XSCF> ioxadm poweron PCIBOX#12B4/PSU#0

Confirm that there is no problem after the maintenance is complete.
     XSCF> showstatus
     XSCF> showhardconf -M


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:


Restore the system to service by following the steps in the Preliminary steps before FRU replacement in a PCI Expansion Unit: Doc Id. 1528544.1
