FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
A PCI Expansion Unit Link cable has Failed

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

A data backup is not a pre-requisite

Before replacing the FRU make sure the Customer has done the Preliminary steps before FRU replacement in a PCI Expansion Unit: Doc Id. 1528544.1

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Note Link Cables are replaced in pairs. The Link Cables are the top 2 cables on the Link Card.

1. Remove the 2 Link Cables
2. Replace the 2 Link Cables

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

The Customer needs to restore the system to service by following the steps in the Preliminary steps before FRU replacement in a PCI Expansion Unit: Doc Id. 1528544.1
