FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Link board in a PCI Expansion Unit has Failed
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?
A data backup is not a pre-requisite
Before replacing the FRU make sure the Customer has done the Preliminary steps before FRU replacement in a PCI Expansion Unit: Doc Id. 1528544.1
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Remove the two link cables and one management cable connected to the Link Board under maintenance.
Note - Record the connection positions of the cables before disconnecting them for correct restoration.
2. Remove the Link board (PCIe card) cassette which is on the far left
Squeeze the green levers together, lift up and pull out to unseat the cassette
3. Remove the Link board from Cassette
a. While pressing the cover stops, remove the cover
b. Loosen the single captive screw with a screwdriver
c. Remove the card from the cassette.
4. Replace the card.
5. Connect the two link cables and one management cable.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
The Customer needs to restore the system to service by following the steps in the Preliminary steps before FRU replacement in a PCI Expansion Unit: Doc Id. 1528544.1
