DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
   WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with SL3000 and LTO tape drives.
   TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
   TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
   PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The HBD card on the drive/tray assembly has been determined to be defective and requires replacement.
   WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The drive must be offline to the library and host prior to working on it.
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:

Refer to the SL3000 Service Manual for complete information on the removal/replacement of the HBD card. This provides Pictures, Cautions and Warnings to complete this task.

HBD Card Removal:

1. Follow the directions in "Drive Tray Removal - All Tape Drives" on page 117.

2. Turn over the card and remove all connecteors/cables shown in Fig 2-13 on page 125 from the card. Small connector release tabs are on the bottom of the connectors.

3. Remove the card.

4. Place the removed card into an ESD-protective package or onto an ESD qualified surface.

HBD Card Replacement:

1. Place the new HBD card (component side up) on the drive tray.

2. Connect all cables shown in Fig 2-14 on page 126.

3. Insert the tray cover into the rear slots on the drive tray.

4. Insert and tighten the two T10 screws.

5. Insert the drive tray assembly into its array slot in the library.
