WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The procedure for the replacement varies depending on the following maintenance types:

- Active/Hot maintenence
- Inactive/Hot maintenance
- Inactive/Cold maintenance
- System Stopped maintenance

Please make sure the maintenance-target cabinet is in the correct state before beginning the physical replacement.  See Doc Id. 1526831.1

To maintain maximum redundancy only one fan module should be removed at a time. If redundancy within the the fan unit cannot be preserved, system-stopped maintenance should be performed.

Caution - Use proper ESD grounding techniques when handling components.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Log in to the XSCF shell
2. Display the maintenance menu(user must have fieldeng privileges)
    XSCF> replacefru
3. <M10-4S Only> Select the maintenance-target cabinet
4. Select the maintenance-target FRU "FAN (Fan Unit)"
5. Select the faulty FRU
6. Remove the front cover
7. Replace the fan unit
8. Replace the front cover
