Engineer has to complete the M10-4s system training
TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 1
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
The procedure for the replacement varies depending on the following maintenance types:
- Active/Hot maintenence
- Inactive/Hot maintenance
- Inactive/Cold maintenance
- System Stopped maintenance
Please make sure the maintenance-target cabinet is in the correct state before beginning the physical replacement. See Doc Id. 1526831.1
To maintain maximum redundancy only one fan module should be removed at a time. If redundancy within the the fan unit cannot be preserved, system-stopped maintenance should be performed.
Caution - Use proper ESD grounding techniques when handling components.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Log in to the XSCF shell
2. Display the maintenance menu(user must have fieldeng privileges)
XSCF> replacefru
3. <M10-4S Only> Select the maintenance-target cabinet
4. Select the maintenance-target FRU "FAN (Fan Unit)"
5. Select the faulty FRU
6. Remove the front cover
7. Replace the fan unit
8. Replace the front cover
9. Return to the XSCF maintenance menu and incorporate the replaced FRU into the system.
10.Once the replacement is complete check the status to ensure no further fru's are in degraded or faulted status.
XSCF> showhardconf -M
XSCF> showstatus
11. Power on the physical partition or entire system if needed.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check for all the domains are up and running fine
