Solution
DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:
Field training in M10-1 / M12-1 Servers
TASK COMPLEXITY: 2
Time Estimate: 30 minutes
FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:All the power cords must be disconnected to completely cut the power to the server.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Power off the server using the poweroff -a command at the XSCF command prompt. Verify the POWER LED is off, and disconnect the power cords.
2. Slide the server out from the equipment rack.
3. Open the fan cover (Turn locking screw to the service position ( wrench ) Slide green button toward inside of the cabinet and lift fan cover forward.)
4. Remove the upper cover.
Removing the operation panel
1. Disconnect the two cables connected from the back of the operation panel to the motherboard unit.
2. Pull out the operation panel from the front side of the cabinet while pressing the release lever located at the back of the operation panel as it slides out.
3. Remove the operation panel while carefully watching the cables as they slide out with the operation panel that were connected to the motherboard unit.
Installing the operation panel
1. Change the mode switch on the operation panel to service mode by sliding the mode switch.
2. Place the operation panel in the install position while running the cables from the front side of the cabinet feeding them through the opening so they can reach their proper connections.
3. Push in the operation panel firmly ensuring that it locks in place.
4. Connect the two cables from the back of the operation panel to their connections on the motherboard unit.
Reassembling the Server
1. Attach the top cover.
2. Close the fan cover. ( turn locking screw to locked position).
3. Slide server back into the rack.
4. Connect all the power cords to power outlets.
5. Verify that the XSCF STANDBY LED on the operator panel is on.
6. Turn the mode switch on the operator panel to the locked mode position.
7. Log into the XSCF.
8. Confirm hardware fix by running the following commands:
XSCF> showstatus
XSCF> showhardconf
XSCF> poweron -a
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Post work required to bring the system back online
