Goal

The new firmware 07.84.xx.xx has been released for the following arrays:

  • Sun Storage 2540-M2
  • Sun Storage 2530-M2
  • Sun Storage 6180
  • Sun Storage 6580
  • Sun Storage 6780

Refer to the following firmware matrix:

  • <Document 1334718.1> Sun Storage[TM] 2540-M2 Firmware Matrix
  • <Document 1334754.1> Sun Storage[TM] 2530-M2 Firmware Matrix
  • <Document 1022296.1> Sun Storage[TM] 6180 Firmware Matrix
  • <Document 1022298.1> Sun Storage[TM] 6580/6780 Firmware Matrix

However this firmware level requires a minimum version of Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM).

Solution

This new firmware brings new features which require the use of CAM 6.9.0_20 (or higher if available). Using any earlier versions of CAM to manage an array with the firmware 07.84.xx.xx will lead to unexpected behaviors and will not be supported by Oracle.

If you want to know what version of CAM you have, please refer to <Document 1011180.1> How to determine the version of Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM).

In order to install CAM 6.9.0_20, you need to install the base version of CAM 6.9, and add patches. See details below:

Solaris sparc :
13465522  CAM 6.9 for Solaris on SPARC
147416-02 or higher: CAM 6.9 BUI Patch for Solaris on SPARC
147660-04 or higher: CAM 6.9 Firmware Patch for Solaris on SPARC

Solaris x86 :
13465556  CAM 6.9 for Solaris on x86
147419-02 or higher: CAM 6.9 BUI Patch for Solaris on x86
147660-04 or higher: CAM 6.9 Firmware Patch for Solaris on x86

Linux :
13465505  CAM 6.9 for Linux
147418-02 or higher: CAM 6.9 BUI Patch for Linux x86
147662-03 or higher: CAM 6.9 Firmware Patch for Linux

Windows :
13465591  CAM 6.9 base version for Windows
147417-02 or higher: CAM 6.9 BUI Patch for Windows
147661-03 or higher: CAM 6.9 Firmware Patch for Windows

Please refer to <Document 1296274.1> How to Download Common Array Manager (CAM) Software and Patches.
