Goal

Assist the customer in upgrading the system firmware with no issues related to their infrastructure

Solution

Customer reports that he's unable to update the System Firmware from the ILOM and is getting the following error message:

NOTE: A firmware upgrade will cause the server and ILOM to
be reset. It is recommended that a clean shutdown of
the server be done prior to the upgrade procedure.
An upgrade takes about 6 minutes to complete. ILOM
will enter a special mode to load new firmware. No
other tasks can be performed in ILOM until the
firmware upgrade is complete and ILOM is reset.

Do you want to preserve the configuration (y/n)? y

Failed to download file (tftp error).

Firmware image update failed.

The GUI functionality might not work neither due to firewall restrictions.

To fix this issue, please have the customer talk with their security team to adjust their firewall rules. In addition, please recommend the following document Solaris[TM] Operating System: How to set-up a TFTP server. (Doc ID 1004474.1) in order to configure their TFTP server properly and have the System Firmware updated shortly.
