Goal

 Learn how to find UUID of systems running Windows, Linux or ESX/ESXi

Solution

The System UUID is a unique code assigned to every motherboard.

Following commands can be run to find system UUID in different hosts:

Linux:

dmidecode ---type system


ESX:

ESX 4: esxcfg-info –u
ESXi 5: esxcli hardware platform get
For classic and i: cat /etc/slp.reg

Windows:
Download UUID.vbs file to the windows machine.
Open cmd propmt and navigate to the location where the UUID.vbs file is saved and run the command

'cscript UUID.vbs'
