Goal

How to check whether the Hardware Data Compression in enabled on a LTO Tape Drive

Solution

For HP LTO Drives, state of compression can be checked from HP LTT Support Ticket :

Eg:

|__ Drive Configuration
||__ Drive
| ||__ Data compression : Enabled

For IBM Drives, this can checked from a Drive Dump :

Eg:

NOTE : By default the Hardware Data Compression is Enabled for LTO Drives.
