Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1509547.1 : SL150 - Firmware Upgrades From Versions Below 1.50 Cannot be Performed Remotely
Library Firmware upgrades to version 1.50 require intervention at the Local Operator Panel and so cannot be performed remotely In this Document
Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SL150 Firmware 1.00 Firmware 1.03 Firmware 1.50 GoalThe SL150 cannot be upgraded remotely when going to version 1.50 FixUnder normal circumstances SL150 firmware is upgraded remotely. However, when going to version 1.50 firmware from an earlier version (1.00 or 1.03) intervention is required at the Local Operator Panel (LOP) due to the installation of a new version of Weblogic and an enforced re-running of the Initialization wizard to re-enter the 'admin' password. The 1.50 firmware can be loaded but the following will be presented once the library is restarted... "Library Initialization Required The SL150 has not been initialized" ..followed by instructions on running the wizard" Customers are asked to refer to the read me in patch 7205054 before applying. There is no fix. An excerpt is provided... "Upgrading from v1.0x to v1.50 will require the user to enter a new admin password using the LOP Init Wizard. The administrator performing firmware changes to this level needs to be physically present with the machine to verify the process is successful. The person performing this upgrade to v1.50 code from the v1.0x firmware should be near the library, as this upgrade may interact with the administrator through the initialization wizard on the front control panel user interface, just as if the library was newly shipped and installed from the Oracle factory. The Initialization wizard may not be presented depending upon prior firmware versions installed on the library. Being physically adjacent to the library during a firmware upgrade is generally a good idea as added feedback is able to be observed from the library front control panel responses, hardware status indicators, as well as other hardware indications that the library is running as expected are immediately observed during the process. It is also recommended that you occasionally check availability, and install, the latest firmware available on the Oracle website: https://support.oracle.com (My Oracle Support). When considering firmware changes to your library always make sure that you are obtaining the latest improvements by obtaining the latest release available that is supported on your hardware. "
