This Action Plan is to be used to determine if the ribbon cable is connected to the Brick Bezel Connector PCB located on the Brick chassis behind the bezel.

Applies to:

Pillar Axiom 500 Storage System - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
Pillar Axiom 300 Storage System - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This Action Plan is to be used to determine the ribbon cable is connected securely to the Brick Bezel Connector PCB located on the Brick chassis behind the bezel.

A Healthy Brick should always monitor Brick Bezel status. When you remove brick bezel you should see Informational event notifications with location details at the AxiomOne GUI: (Examples below)
Informational BrickBezelRemoved /Brick003 RC-1

When you reconnect the brick bezel you should see similar event notifications:
Informational BrickBezelInserted /Brick003 RC-1

If these events are not detected, you should check Brick bezel connector using this procedure:

Solution

On the brick bezel, there are two hooks at the bottom, and two latches on the top.

If the brick is installed just a bit too high in the cabinet, or the component above it is too low, the bezel may latch, but the contact on the little PC board on the right hand side cannot be made.

If either the latch points at the top of the chassis or the pivot at the bottom are bent on the chassis, that also can cause this not to work.

On the right side of the brick, there is  a small PC board. The bezel contacts are that board.

Please follow below steps to check Brick Bezel Connector Ribbon Cable:

1. Remove the Brick Bezel and Locate the Brick Bezel PCB Connector.

2. Unscrew both Philips head screws to disconnect the PCB from the Brick chassis.

4. Pull the cream colored clip upwards to release the ribbon cable from the connector.

5. Then reinsert the ribbon cable, confirming that it is inserted fully into the connector.

6. Close the clip to secure the ribbon cable in place.
