DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Knowledge of Oracle Key Manager and X2100 / X2200 / X4170 / NS T4-1 / Sparc T7-1 platforms
TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 3
FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to replace Oracle Key Manager hard drive in X2100, X2200, X4170, NS T4-1, Sparc T7-1 KMA server
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: KMA server should be powered down
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:
For reference below is the procedure to replace the KMA hard drive:
To remove and replace the hard disk drive:
1. Have the customer perform “Modify a KMA Passphrase” and “Shutdown of a KMA”, if possible.
2. Remove power for subsequent cold-plugging of the disk.
3. Remove the existing disk as described in your server's service manual (Sun Fire X2100 M2 Server Service Manual, Sun Fire X2200 M2 Server Service Manual, Sun Fire™ X4170, X4270, and X4275 Servers Service Manual, Netra Sparc T4-1, or SPARC T7-1 Server Service Manual) for cold-plugging. This requires breaking the security seals attached to the disk.
4. Install the new disk into the same drive slot occupied by the former disk and as described in your server's service manual.
5. Reconnect power to the KMA and verify the server is in standby power state as described in the server's service manual.
6. Use the ELOM/ILOM web interface to access the KMA console in order to observe system startup messages and then use the ELOM/ILOM web interface's Remote Control -> Remote Power Control->Power On to power up the host.
7. Observe the console for any messages indicating issues with the new disk during the boot process.
8. If this KMA is part of a cluster, then have the customer perform Add a KMA to a Cluster. The KMA should contain the current or latest version of software and will join the cluster using the current replication scheme for the cluster. The customer may need to delete the KMA name from within the OKM GUI and then readd it prior to joining the cluster.
If this is a new cluster then the customer should perform Install First KMA in Cluster.
NOTE: Disposal, and destruction, of the failed disk is the customer's responsibility since zeroization of the media typically will not be performed. No Failure Analysis will be performed on the FRU. However, the cover plate with the disk serial number should be removed and returned to logistics as proof of service.
