GoalHow to Remove / Replace a PUK Card From SL3000 Library Solution DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS Refer to the SL3000 Service Manual for complete instructions on removal/replacement of the PUK card. It provides Pictures, Warnings and Cautions not mentioned here. The PUK card must be special ordered and programmed before being sent to customer site. It is attached to the PUM (Motherboard). NOTE: Prior to PUK replacement, manually copy the config information off the library as it may not be saved. This will save time should the library not come back properly. PUK Card Removal: 1. Have the operator issue the command to take the library offline. 2. In the base module, turn OFF the electronics module assembly switch. If you have the redundant power feature, also turn OFF the second power switch. 3. Turn the PDU circuit breaker to the OFF postion (if you have a 2N configuration, turn off both PDU circuit breakers). 4. If your library contains a drive expansion module, turn the PDU circuit breaker to the OFF position (if you have a 2N configuration, turn off both PDU circuit breakers). 5. Loosen the two green thumb screws on the electronics module assembly cover plate. 6. Tilt the cover plate at the top and lift out the tray. The PUK card is attached to the motherboard at P/J230. 7. Located the PUK card. 8. Remove the 3 T8 screws that attach the PUK card to the PUM motherboard. 9. Pull out the PUK card from the standoffs and its connector and place it on an antistatic surface, safely away from the work area. PUK Card Replacement: 1. Remove the replacement PUK card from its ESD package. 2. Carefully insert the PUK card into its connector, J230. 3. Replace the 3 T8 screws to mount the card to the PUM motherboard. 4. Replace the cover plate and tighten the green thumb screws. 5. Power on all breakers to the library and verify library configuration. 6. Verify the host connection type is seen. It will be either HLI for mainframe attached libraries or FC SCSI for open system libraries.
