WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?: Replacing the Fan Tray and Fan Tray BackplaneThis section describes removal and installation of the fan tray and fan tray backplane. Caution - Do not operate the workstation without the fan tray. Removing the Fan Tray1. Power off the system and attach an antistatic wrist strap. Open and position the chassis, and remove the access panel. 2. Using the handle, pull the fan tray from the chassis and set it aside. Installing the Fan Tray1. Remove the replacement Fan Tray from the packaging. 2. Align the fan tray in the chassis slot so that the connector is closest to the top of the chassis. 3. Insert the fan tray. Removing the Fan Tray Backplane1. Power off the system and attach an antistatic wrist strap. Open and position the chassis, and remove the access panel. 2. Using the handle, pull the fan tray from the chassis and set it aside. 3. Disconnect the fan tray backplane from the motherboard at connector J20 4. Using a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws for the fan tray backplane. Installing the Fan Tray and Fan Tray Backplane1. Using a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver, mount the backplane to the chassis. - Do not overtighten the screws. 2. Connect the fan tray cable to the backplane and to the motherboard at connector J20. 3. Align the fan tray in the chassis slot so that the connector is closest to the top of the chassis 4. Insert the fan tray. 5. If you are finished working, reassemble the workstation and power on the workstation. OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
