Goal

SL24/SL48 - Unable To Configure SL24 Tape Drive In Oracle Secure Backup with the Erie HBA (SAS 2)

Assuming the SL24 is not supported with the Erie HBA (SAS 2) and mpt2_sas driver then what HBA / Connectivity would it be supported on Solaris 11?

Solution

Any SAS-1 HBA will support the LTO SAS 1/2 tape drives on Solaris 10 and 11.  SAS is NOT supported on Solaris 9.

Solaris 11 uses the same MPT2 driver that Solaris 10 uses so at this time we do not support the SL24/48 or SL500 libraries with SAS2 drives on a Solaris server with a SAS2 HBA in it.

That also holds true for the desktop and rack mount SAS2 tape drives.
