 Sun Fire V250 - How to Remove and Replace a Sun Fire V250 Battery

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
   WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:

Sun Fire V250 product training is desirable but not required.

   TIME ESTIMATE: 45 mins

   TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
   PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty Battery

   WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Battery
The battery powers the server’s clock.

Caution – There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with the wrong type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

To Replace the Battery

1. Turn server power off.

2. Ensure the server is properly grounded.

3. Remove the service panel.

4. Unclip the battery from its housing on the system board.
 - Push the retaining clip to one side to release the battery.

5. Locate the new battery in the housing and press down on it to secure it in place.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
