FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Smart Card Reader failure

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/CUSTOMER ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Removing the Smart Card Reader

1.Power off the system, open the chassis, and remove the bezel.

2.Locate the smart card reader.

3.Disconnect the smart card reader interface cable from the smart card reader.

4.Remove the smart card reader assembly.

5.Tilt and lift the smart card reader from the bracket.

Installing the Smart Card Reader

1.Locate the smart card reader bracket.

2.Remove the new smart card reader from its packaging.

3.Tilt and slide the smart card reader into the smart card reader bracket.

4.Install the smart card reader assembly.

5.Connect the smart card reader interface cable to the smart card reader.

6.Inspect the smart card reader assembly and related component, cabling

7. Install the bezel and access panel, power on the system, and verify the component installation.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
