How to Remove / Replace Monitoring Camera.

Goal

 To replace a failed IP camera in the SL8500

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
   WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL8500 library hardware.
   TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
   TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
   PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Remote camera has been determined to be non functional and requires replacement.
   WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

If the library is equipped with Service Safety Door, customer will only need to disable the CAP and elevators for the duration of the replacement.

If the library is not equipped with Service Safety Door, customer will need to disable the library for the duration of the replacement.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Refer to the SL8500 Service Manual for complete instructions including pictures to preform the following actions.

Remote Camera Removal:

1. Open the appropriate library front door (see “Open/Close Front Doors”) for access to failed camera (1).

2. Disconnect the Ethernet (1) and power (2) cables at the camera (3).

3. While supporting the camera, remove one T30 screw (1) from the top, securing camera to camera bracket and remove camera. Remote Camera:

Remote Camera Replacement:

1. Secure camera to camera bracket from the top with one T30 screw (1). Note: Make sure the rubber feet on the camera base fit into the cutouts in the bracket.

2. Connect the Ethernet (1) and power cables (2) to the camera(3).

3. Perform “Remote Camera Verification.”

4. Close the library front door (see “Open/Close Front Doors”).

 

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE -

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Verify the camera is operational and provides image via Ethernet PARTS NOTE: Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System.
