Goal

In Sun ZFS Storage 7320 Browser User Interface (BUI) ( https://[IP address or host name you assigned to theNET0 port of either storage head]:215 ), some drives show faulted in "Configuration -> Storage" screen.

The "Maintenance -> Problems" screen lists: the device has failed or could not be opened

Solution

This is normal and expected reporting of the ZFSSA Pool when cache (readzilla) disks are physically located on the other node.

In a cluster, cache devices are available only to the node which has the storage pool imported. It is possible to configure cache devices on each node to be part of the same pool, but only during cluster takeover does the cache drives belong to the pool.

To do this, takeover the pool on the passive node, and then add storage and select the cache devices. This has the effect of having the local cache devices on the node configured into the pool. While the data on the cache devices will be lost on failover, the new cache devices can be used on the new node.
