Goal

LTO - What is the Maximum Record Length for HP LTO 4 Tape Drives Purchased From Oracle

Fix

At the host level, data is referred to as records.  When the host transfers the data to a drive, it is by using blocks that the drives receives data from the host.
That being said, the record length is controlled by the host or application.  The block can be fixed or variable and is controlled by the driver.
For HP LTO 4 drive, it supports up to a 16 meg block size for non-encrypted data.  For encrypted data, it supports up to an 8 meg block size.
