Please refer to the Base Module Replacement Tips attached to this document To Remove The Base Module FRU From The Rack Caution: The robot, front control panel, and base module chassis (the KLM card FRU would be the same as the base module chassis) are critical to maintaining the product serial number and customer settings. When a replacement is needed for any of these CRUs, you may only replace one CRU during a single power-down cycle. 1.Power off the library via the Web GUI and use the option enabled to prepare the robot for removal so that the robot ends up being in the parked position. If the Web GUI is not available please see the How to Park the Robot Manually procedure at the bottom of this document. Note – It is critical for the robot to be in the parked position. 2.Reposition the robot lock
Note – Make sure the locked padlock icon is visible. 3.Remove all modules below the base module if applicable Note – Make sure to remove the Ethernet and USB cables from the robot before removing it. d. Tape drives 5.Remove screws securing the base module to the front of the rack. Caution – The base module weighs approximately 12.8 kg (28.3 pounds) without magazines, tape drives, power supplies, or the robot CRU. 6.Extract the module from the rack.
To Install The New Base Module FRU Into The Rack 1.Install the module FRU: Note – If you can not engage the rails properly, remove the base module and adjust the rails. Never bend the tabs to engage a rail. d. Push the module into the rack until the front side-tabs approach the front of the rack rails. 2.Secure to rack with screws (put one in a few turns then the other screw and tighten both). 4.Install the expansion module, if applicable, and repeat as necessary until all modules are in place. 7."Unlock the Robot". Reset the robot lock
Note: Make sure the unlocked padlock icon is visible. 8.Connect, Align, dress, and secure the library and drive cables in the hook and loop straps (Ethernet, FC/SAS, USB).
How to Park the Robot Manually: 1.Remove the top tape drive from the base module.
5.Hold the bullwheel gear with the robot fully raised until the robot is locked. 6.Reposition the robot lock (loosen the thumbscrew, remove the mechanism, rotate the mechanism 180 degrees, insert the mechanism, and tighten the thumbscrew). Attachments This solution has no attachment |
