TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
Task Complexity: 0
REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A/RTM related problem
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc. If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.
The customer might need to conduct an orderly blade shutdown using "[clia] deactivate <slot #>" command from ShMM as some configuration connects to external disk array via A/RTM
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED:
0) Preparation --- performed by customer
1. Lable cables conneting to A/RTM appropriately
2. Orderly shutdown blade, if necessary
1) Remove A/RTM
0. Verify that you have taken necessary antistatic precautions
1. Power off the A/RTM using "[clia] deactivate <addr of slot> <FRU #>" from ShMM
2. Remove all connected cables
3. Loosen the locking screws on the RTM
4. Unlatch the top and bottom latches and pull RTM out of the card slot
5. If the card slot is to remain empty, install a filler panel in the slot
6. Pull out the node blade in the front of the chass about 1"
2) Install A/RTM
0. Verify that you have taken necessary antistatic precautions
1. Go to the rear of the system and choose an appropriate slot for the rear transition module
2. Remove the slot filler panel from the selected node board slot, if necessary
3. Prepare the module by loosening the locking screws and opening the injector/ejector latches at the top and bottom of the module
4. Carefully align the edges of the module with the guides in the appropriate slot
5. Taking care to keep the module aligned in the guides, slide the module in until the injector/ejector mechanisms engage
6. Simultaneously push in the module and push the injector/ejector mechanisms inward to their closed positions to seat the midplane connectors
7. Tighten the RTM locking screws to ensure that the RTM is secured into the shelf
8. Install the node board into the front of the chassis and push the board toward the midplane. Ensure that it is seated properly and that the connectors make good contact with the RTM
9. Connect all the cables back
10. Power on the node blade, if necessary
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
1. Check all interfaces via A/RTM are up and running
2. If connecting to external network devices, verify using "ping", "traceroute", or etc commands
3. If connecting to external disk array, verify the accessibility of array
