REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: AMC card related problem

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly blade shutdown using "[clia] deactivate <slot #>" command from ShMM if AMC card contains bootable HDD.

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:

0) Preparation --- performed by customer

1. Lable cables conneting to A/RTM appropriately
2. Orderly shutdown blade if AMC card contains bootable HDD

1) Remove AMC card

0. Verify that you have taken necessary antistatic precautions
1. Shut down the payload OS
2. At the front of the blade server, locate AMC to be removed
3. For AMC, initiate the hot-swap deactivation sequence by pulling the injector/ejector latch out half way
4. Wait until the Hot-Swap LED is solid blue
5. When the Hot-Swap LED is solid blue, pull the injector/ejector latch out completely
6. Remove AMC
7. Replace AMC with another AMC or install a filler panel

2) Install AMC card

0. Verify that you have taken necessary antistatic precautions
1. At the blade server, locate AMC site where to be installed AMC
2. Remove the filler panel, if necessary
3. Perform any card-specific hardware procedures, if necessary
4. Prepare AMC by fully opening its injector/ejector latches to the OUT position
5. Carefully align the edges of AMC with the guides in the appropriate site
6. Keeping AMC aligned in the guides, slide it in by pressing on AMC faceplate until AMC faceplate is flush with the blade server faceplate
7. Push the ejector latch in fully
8. Power on the system, if necessary

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:

1. Verify the GREEN LED light up
2. Check the how-swap state using "[clia] <addr of blade> <FRU #>" is at "M4 (Active)"
2a. If not, use "[clia] activate <addr of blade> <FRU #>" to power on the AMC card
3. Verify all the interfaces on AMC card is up and operation
