Task Complexity: 0

REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty DVD Drive

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 0"), and after the system has shut down Switch from the system console to the -> prompt by typing the #. (Hash Period) key sequence. At the -> prompt, type the stop /SYS command.

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:
*** Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge

1. Disconnect all power cables

Removal:

1. Move the left DVD locking arm to the left & then remove the DVD drive.

Installation:

1. Install DVD drive, BUT ensure that the new drive is the same type/part number as the prior since this platform initially released with a PATA DVD, but then transitioned to using a SATA DVD toward the end of production.  PATA & SATA drives are not compatible & require a differing PDB.

2. Connect all power cables.
