Goal

LTO - Tape Drive Will Not Accept Cartridge or Ejects Cartridge Immediately.

Fix

1. Check that the drive has power.
2. Check that the cartridge is compatible with the drive.
3. Ensure that the cartridge is inserted in the correct orientation.
4. Write protect the cartridge and reinsert it if the Drive or Tape LED flashed. If it works when the write-protect switch is on, then the cartridge memory has most likely failed. Recover any needed data off the cartridge and then discard it.
5. Check for damage to the cartridge — Discard the cartridge if any damage is found.
6. Try a new or “known-to-be-good” cartridge. If it loads fine, then discard the cartridge that would not load.
7. Check that another drive of the same type will load the cartridge. If it will, then the original drive might be faulty.
