Goal

This document will assist with the unloading/ejecting of an IBM LTO tape cartridge.

Solution

Cannot Unload / Eject Tape
DP1:Tape will not unload/eject after pushing the eject button.
- Only perform the following procedure ONCE.

A1: Soft cycle the drive first if pushing eject button does not work. You can soft cycle by holding the eject button down for 10 sec. The drive will reset itself and go through its power on sequence. Next, it will perform a safe (slow) rewind of the tape (led is blinking green). The rewind may take up to 10min depending on how much of the tape is spooled. After the rewind is complete (solid green LED), push the eject button again to eject the tape. If an error code displays, contact the Oracle TSC Center to open a Service Request for further assistance.
