WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?: No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:  Defective SAS Expander Board

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. System needs to be shutdown by customer

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:

Remove the SAS Expander Board:

1.  Remove the top cover,

2.  Remove Fan Tray 1.

3.  Remove PCI cards in slots 1-4, & note their positions & external cabling.

4.  Remove the SAS Expander board (make note of the SAS cable connection).

 

Install the SAS Expander Board:

1.  Install the SAS Expander board & place the SAS cable in its original position.

2.  Install the PCI cards into Slots 1-4 in their original position with original cables.

3.  Install Fan Tray 1.

4.  Install the top cover.

 

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:
Turn on the system and verify functionality, no service LEDs or messages.
