REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: failed Compact Flash Drive
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Shut Down the Oracle Solaris OS
Prepare the Server Module for Removal
Remove the Server Module From the Modular System
Remove the Cover
ESD Safety Measures
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED:
Remove a Compact Flash Drive
1. Remove Compact Flash module by pressing it down and then pulling it straight out from its connector on the server module’s motherboard
2. Place the Compact Flash module aside on an antistatic surface.
Install a Compact Flash Drive
1. Insert the new replacement Compact Flash module straight into the connector on the server module’s motherboard.
The Compact Flash module connector is keyed; the Compact Flash module will only fit in the correct orientation.
2. Firmly push the Compact Flash module straight into the connector, until the module is securely seated in the connector.
3. Return the server module to operation.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot system and monitor boot sequence for errors. Test functionality of system:
1. Run the Solaris "fmadm faulty" and SP/ILOM "show faulty" command (if only ALOM is supported run "showfaults -v" command) to verify that the fault has been cleared.
2. Perform one of the following tasks based on your verification results:
* If the previous steps did not clear the fault, refer to doc 1004229.1 for information about the tools and methods you can use to diagnose and clear
component faults.
* If the previous steps indicate that no faults have been detected, the component has been replaced successfully. No further action is required
3. Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
