In this Document
Applies to:Sun Blade 6000 System - Version All Versions and laterSPARC T4-1B - Version All Versions and later Netra SPARC T4-1B - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. GoalHow to Remove and Replace a SPARC/NETRA T4-1B Service Processor ************************************************************************************ SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS PROBLEM OVERVIEW: SP failure NOTE: When possible, prior to replacement login to the ILOM/SP and check the reported version of System Firmware. If the server is running 8.9.5-8.9.5.a, update the System Firmware to 8.9.8 then proceed with replacement. This is to avoid running into "Error Reading Keyswitch Value" due to Bug 24489657.
DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc. If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.
NOTE: When replacing the service processor (SP), you must backup/restore the configuration settings maintained in the SP. Before replacing the SP, save the configuration using the Oracle ILOM backup utility. Refer to the Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) 3.2.x Documentation for instructions on backing up and restoring the Oracle ILOM configuration: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37444_01/html/E37446/z400371a1482122.html Shut Down the Oracle Solaris OS Note: Following SP/ILOM replacement if any device used by the LDOM configuration is disabled or faulted, the system will attempt to boot into a degraded configuration (if possible) or will revert to the factory-default profile. So, if the system is using Oracle VM (LDom) we recommend as a precaution to perform a backup of the LDom configuration (per doc 1019720.1) prior to SP replacement Remove Service Processor NOTE: In case the FW upgrade via ILOM BUI fails, please use the CLI method (see example in doc 2019500.1). You may need a source of TFTP in order to upgrade firmware via CLI commands, for details refer to: Solaris[TM] Operating System: How to set-up a TFTP server. (Doc ID 1004474.1).
